Turns out the legendary food stalls of Air Itam, the sprawling Kek Lok Si Temple and scenic Penang Hill fit nicely in a day trip from the city center of George Town. A little for the stomach, for the soul, and for a sight to behold, all in a day in Penang.
A trip to Penang isn’t complete without experiencing the amazing local food. It’s colorful history has brought in a myriad of cultures and traditions from around the region, and with that the creation of a unique cuisine, a blend of the flavors that reflect its past. Here are some ideas on where to get a taste of all of it on a trip to Penang. Breakfast – George Town The lively markets in George Town are the best way to
Been to Penang a couple of times before, but first time I’m attempting to write about it! George Town itself is worth a few days for the food, historical sights, street art and more. But if you’ve gotta squeeze the highlights into one day, here’s how it might be done. This itinerary can be completed on foot. Best done in good weather!
Rounding off my week long solo trip to the Philippines with a couple of days in Angeles City, right next to Clark International Airport. Not really a destination that comes to mind for most people, but the airport is rising in prominence as a gateway to the rest of the Philippines (including Coron). If you’ve got a day in Angeles City, here are the sights you shouldn’t miss!
Literally one of the biggest attractions around Angeles City in Pampanga, Philippines, a day trip to Mount Pinatubo traces the second largest volcanic eruption in the 20th century, and ends at the beautiful crater lake of Mount Pinatubo, a stark contrast to the trail of destruction it left it the mammoth eruption in 1991. After lots of sand and sea in Coron, time for the mountains!
This is the remainder of my trip in Coron, after the Super Ultimate Tour, the Island Escapade Tour, and the Dugong and Calauit Tour. Arranging the bits and pieces in Coron Town to form a full day itinerary here. I had 5 full days in Coron but rain took away a good part of that. Ideally I would have done those 3 tours, a full day in Coron Town doing the below without weather getting in the way, and also
After 2 days of standard packaged tours (Coron Island and nearby beaches), time for some DIY. Both Calauit and dugong tours are expensive standalone tours available from Coron. With some help from my awesome guesthouse, I was able to check out these 2 attractions without a tour for a fraction of the usual price. Here’s how I did it!
After a fun-filled day with lots of snorkeling on the Super Ultimate Tour, I thought it was time to take a break from snorkeling and enjoy more of the beaches Coron had to offer. And so I booked the Island Escapade Tour on my second full day in Coron, Palawan.
Wanting to try something new and with not much time to plan, I found myself alone in Coron, in the Filipino province of Palawan in July. I had almost a week in Coron but never knowing what would come in the following days, I took up the most comprehensive of the tours on the first day, the Super Ultimate Tour. Turned out to be the perfect introduction to Coron, Palawan, and as luck would have it, the only day of
North Sumatra has so much to offer, from the endless natural wonders, to food, culture, and history. However if you’re short on time, like I was, here’s a 6 day itinerary I used last year for a glimpse of north Sumatra. Be warned though, that completing this will leave you wanting for more!
