North Sumatra has so much to offer, from the endless natural wonders, to food, culture, and history. However if you’re short on time, like I was, here’s a 6 day itinerary I used last year for a glimpse of north Sumatra. Be warned though, that completing this will leave you wanting for more!
A quick round up on the information you’ll need to plan a trip to Daocheng Yading Nature Reserve. Summarizing the points I’ve learnt from planning my trip there, hope it may be useful to someone else! For details on my experience at Yading, check out my previous post here!
A 2 day (mis)adventure to Yading Nature Reserve in Sichuan, China. Might be one of the most beautiful places on Earth, and I’m glad to have came, but here’s how you should not do it.
The gateway to Yading Nature Reserve, Daocheng. While it certainly isn’t a top destination, there are still things to do to keep you busy for a day or two. Also a great way to get away from the crowds that mark almost every other tourist spot in China.
Kangding, saddled between the mountains, and an important gateway between Sichuan and Tibet. Most people stop by here just for a day or 2, so here’s how to make the most of your short stop!
Continuing off the previous post, Almaty is not only a beautiful city but also a great base for day trips! Within just an hour or 2 you might find yourself in a desert canyon or a snowcapped mountain. Here are 3 day trips I did from Almaty, to Charyn/Sharyn Canyon, to Medeu and Chimbulak/Shymbulak, and one to Big Almaty Lake and the First Presidential Park.
Thinking of doing a trek or hike in the Tian Shan mountains to get a taste of the stunning nature Kyrgyzstan has to offer? I’ve compiled some information for doing short treks (2-5 days) in Tian Shan from Karakol, might come in handy!
5 day solo trek in the Tian Shan mountains (Jeti Oguz – Teleti Pass – Karakol Valley – Ala-Kul – Altyn Arashan)
A 5 day solo trek in Kyrgyzstan in the spectacular Tian Shan mountains, across idyllic mountain valleys, over snow covered mountain passes, and passing the magical alpine lake, Ala-Kul. Itinerary: Jeti Oguz – Teleti Pass – Karakol Valley – Ala-Kul – Altyn Arashan. Truly unforgettable landscapes and an experience like no other.
Ala Archa National Park is a popular day or 2 day hiking trip from Bishkek. With just a short ride out of the city you’ll gain access to pristine snow capped mountains, pine forests, glaciers and alpine rivers. I did a day hike in Ala Archa National Park with 2 roommates from the hostel I stayed in. Here’s all about my visit to this beautiful park!
On the way back from Lake Toba to Medan, we made a detour and headed towards Berastagi, the town town in the mountains, to check out 2 amazing attractions nearby-Sipisopiso waterfall and Sibayak volcano. Here’s how you can do it too!
